HealthNet TPO has been working on primary and secondary healthcare in East Afghanistan since 1996. Key elements of the programme are: (a) Assistance to returning refugees, (b) Management Support, (c) Maternal and child care, (d) Integration of mental health, (e) Policy Development, (f) Community Participation and (g) Sustainability. Malaria Control Programme
Malaria is one of the biggest causes of mortality in developing countries. Afghanistan is no exception. HealthNet TPO has been working on this health issue since 1993. The Global Fund has designated HealthNet TPO as primary recipient of funds meant for combating malaria. With the development and implementation of new preventive and curative methods our programmes have been instrumental in the reduction of malaria morbidity with 60%. Read more...
Mental Health, Psychosocial Support and Community Development Programme
HealthNet TPO seeks to mobilize communities and make them active in their own development. Creating awareness of psychosocial conditions is a prerequisite towards preventing more serious mental health issues and psychosocial problems. Dutch Consortium Uruzgan (DCU)
Five Dutch development organizations (Save the Children NL, Cordaid, the Dutch Committee for Afghanistan (DCA), ZOA Refugee Care and HealthNet TPO) have gathered in the ‘Dutch Consortium Uruzgan’. Together they work in Uruzgan province (particularly known for the former occurrence of Dutch troops in this area). Every organization has its own specialty, including agriculture, education, sanitation, animal husbandry, healthcare and environment. HealthNet TPO is responsible for health care. Read more... HealthNet TPO is one of the largest health NGOs in Afghanistan, with over eight regional offices and several depots and storehouses throughout the country. Since 1993, HealthNet TPO is working on establishing and expanding sustainable health care structures through the implementation of various programmes. These programmes provide the umbrella for smaller (separate) projects that are executed by over 2,000 local staff members with the joint aim of ‘better health for all’.
