The purpose of the various Community Systems Strengthening interventions is: “Community systems are reinforced or established enabling people to make use of local services, formal and informal networks and/or key figures in order to improve their well-being and health.”

More specific objectives of are:

  • Identification of collective mechanisms enabling people at community level to address the social determinants of health.
  • Improved functioning of social (formal and informal) networks in order to improve the health and well being of people at community level.
  • Capacity building of relevant local stakeholders regarding the implementation of services towards a healthier environment for people at risk.
  • Development and adaptation of existing community-based and cultural sensitive interventions, in close relation with the community, improving their well-being and health.
  • National laws, guidelines and policies are translated in cultural appropriate materials useful at local levels.

These activities have been planned in South Sudan but have not yet started. Various tools and implementation instruments are still to be developed by HealthNet TPO staff (i.e. the community mapping tool, a format for the development of detailed activity plans, taskforces/platforms for social networks, appropriate reporting formats and supervision tools). More information on the results will follow during this year.
