New developments in Pakistan

During 2010 new impulses have been given to the programming in Pakistan. As per 1 August, dr. Qadeer Ahsan (former head of health program USAID Pakistan) has been appointed as country director in a newly opened country office in Islamabad.

After an application in a program for Health Systems Strengthening in Pakistan, funded by the Global fund for Aids, Tuberculosis and Malaria, HealthNet TPO has been selected as Principal Recipient by the Country Coordination Committee. If this project proposal will be approved, it would enable us to implement a 5 year program.
At this moment negotiations and assessments are under way to prepare interventions for the rehabilitation phase after the floods. A strong focus is put on psychosocial support activities as HealthNet TPO is one of the few INGO’s with this expertise, that has been built up after the earthquake in 2005.
