After years of war and uncertainty South Sudan gained independence on 9 July 2011. However it is still a very vulnerable region with an urgent need for accessible and quality health care. HealthNet TPO has been actively working in the country since 1995 (then still Sudan) which was not always easy. There is a lack of almost everything. Especially the insufficient infrastructure and the lack of human resources make it hard to implement projects in this region.
Though the challenges for the new state are thus enormous and the future is still uncertain, the South Sudanese are very motivated to improve their living conditions and to rebuild the country. HealthNet TPO supports them by working together on health in the broadest sense. This includes improving the health system, but also restoring mutual trust.
